You Belong : The World Has Been Waiting for You

I have been in the travel industry long enough to know what it feels like to stand outside it.

To look at a brochure and not see yourself in it. To arrive at a destination that was marketed as world-class and discover, at the entrance, that world-class did not include you. To want — deeply, simply — to be part of the world, and to find that the world had not quite gotten around to making room.

That feeling is what Able2Travel was built to address. And it is the feeling that became a song.

How a brand idea became an anthem

You Belong began as a concept for what I wanted Able2Travel to feel like - not just as a travel company, but as a message. I wanted something that captured the emotional truth behind everything we do. Not the logistics of accessible travel, not the compliance language, not the checklist. The feeling underneath all of it.

The feeling that you deserve to experience the world. I wrote it for the people we serve - travellers with access needs, older travellers, families navigating a world that was not always designed with them in mind. But if I am honest, I also wrote it for myself. For the version of me that has felt too different, too complicated, too much - or simply not enough. I know that feeling intimately. And I know how rarely anyone looks you in the eye and says: you belong here.

So I said it. In a song.

What technology gave the idea

Here is the part of this story I find most meaningful and most relevant to where the world is going.

I created You Belong using digital tools. I developed the concept and creative direction, worked through the lyrics and musical direction with Claude, used Suno to compose the music, and built the music video in Canva using stock footage. I did not go to a recording studio. I did not hire a production team. I did not need to navigate whether the building had a lift or whether the bathroom was accessible or whether the budget existed for any of it.

I created something - in a day - that would have previously required resources, infrastructure and physical access that were simply not available to me. I have written lyrics, sung and composed music as a hobby since I was a teenager. The creativity was already there. What technology gave me was a pathway to it.

The technology didn't give me the idea. It gave the idea a pathway.

That distinction matters enormously to me because the conversation about AI and digital tools in the creative industries tends to focus on what technology replaces. I am far more interested in what it makes possible. Digital access is creative access. It is access to entrepreneurship, to employment, to participation, to the ability to say something and have it heard. For people with disabilities, for people in under-resourced communities, for anyone who has ever been told - explicitly or implicitly - that certain spaces were not for them, that matters profoundly.

This year's theme for World Tourism Day is 'Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.'  I believe that conversation must include not only how technology changes the way people travel, but who gets to help design what travel becomes. The future of tourism should be built by everyone who has a stake in it — and that includes the people who have historically been left out of the room.

What the song is actually about

You Belong is not a disability anthem. It is not a niche message for a niche audience.

It is for anyone who has ever felt like they were standing on the outside looking in. Anyone who has talked themselves out of a trip, a table, a moment of joy — because some part of them wondered whether they were really allowed to be there.

The answer is yes. You are allowed to be there.

The song encourages you to lift your head. To take the journey. To let yourself be part of the world, whether that means seeing the ocean for the first time, climbing a mountain, travelling to a city you've only ever seen in photographs, trying food that is entirely new to you, or simply sitting at a table in a beautiful place and deciding that you deserve to be exactly where you are.

You do.Your life matters. Your story matters. You are part of the extraordinary diversity of this world and the world is more beautiful because you are in it.

Go see it.

Book the flight. Take the train. Take the road. Try the food. Make a new friend. Watch the sun set somewhere you have never watched it set before.

The world awaits.

And it has been waiting for you.

You Belong is the official anthem of Able2Travel — accessible travel concierge for people who refuse to let the world pass them by.
